Manager delighted at title win and now sights are set on Scottish Cup final

BRENDAN Rodgers was thrilled to get his hands on the Scottish Premiership trophy at the weekend after a long and demanding league campaign. But once he had put the silverware down, the manager was already thinking about next season and how his all-conquering side must strive for even higher standards to maintain their domestic dominance.

It’s this constant drive for excellence and progression that has seen the Irishman guide the Bhoys to all five of the available honours in Scottish football since he took the helm just over two years ago, and that won’t change after the champions lifted their seventh successive title.

“It’s a privilege to manage the club,” the Hoops boss told the View in an exclusive interview. “We’re champions for a reason and we have to keep that mentality now in the league until next season. We have to improve – that’s important. We’ve won two titles and it was tougher this year and it’ll be tougher again next season and we need to improve on that.”

While the manager is already planning on how to deliver eight-in-a-row, at the same time, he knows it’s important to cherish the latest achievement. Looking back over the highlights of a seventh successive championship, he admitted the 5-0 rout of Rangers in Paradise which wrapped up the title was a memorable moment.
