Jaclyn Poucel was delighted to sign for Celtic, and now she wants to deliver success to the Hoops in the form of trophies

Winning Ways

JACLYN Poucel is at Celtic to win silverware. The ambitious defender has made the switch from the University of Pittsburgh to Glasgow, and she’s determined to do everything she can ensure it will a successful move.

Already she and her fellow American, Darcy McFarlane, have played their part in the Hoops’ 1-1 draw with Glasgow City and a 4-1 League Cup quarter-final win over Hearts, and the 24-year-old believes there is much more to come in the months ahead.

Her initial impressions of Celtic and Scotland are, like Darcy McFarlane’s, very favourable, due in no small part to the welcome they’ve received from their new Celtic team-mates.

Speaking to the Celtic View, Jaclyn explained: “I love it here, and it’s been great so far. We’ve had great training sessions and we haven’t lost a game yet and we aren’t going to!

“I’m definitely loving it, although the weather is a little too cold for me but I’m getting used to it! It’s such a good training environment here, so no complaints.

“The girls are all so nice and they’ve made us feel welcome from day one. Even the day I landed here in Scotland I was in at training later that night. I didn’t feel nervous at all coming in. The girls make you laugh but it’s still competitive.

“The manager, David Haley, has been great so far too. He’s really made us feel 100 per cent at home and that’s super important. It’s hard for anyone to come and play in a different country but it was so easy coming here.”
