He is the epitome of grace and charm and casts a spell of magic around every time he faces the crowd. Even at the age of 73, the Shahenshah of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan stands tall and handsome with a hard-to-miss enigmatic persona. His roles have been an inspiration for one and all associated with acting and stage performance and his dedication and humbleness is a classic example of taking fame and popularity with dignity. It was a golden day for Delhiites as we got the opportunity to speak with the living legend Amitabh Bachchan during his promotional stints in the city for his latest release, Pink.
Q. What was that one thing that made you say, ‘this is it’ for Pink?
Shoojit Sircar came up with this concept and gave me an idea for a couple of minutes. I dint know what my role was going to be, the screenplay was unknown and also everything about the cast was a suspense. It was just the concept that I loved and instantly took up this offer. I appreciate Shoojit for the hard work put in by him in creating such a hard-hitting yet beautiful film.
Q. People have started talking about this issue more openly. Do you think this movie has led to a new initiative all together?
Not just after the film but I believe that the way society is changing, new ideologies are shaping up, that’s how we all get new ideas to film a movie. Someone must have thought about this or spoken about it which would have directed Shoojit towards this direction and create a movie on it. It is on the audience whether they accept this film or not.
Q. How difficult was it for you to understand the legal language to pull off the role of a lawyer?
The story was so strong and the screenplay so clear that everything was researched before hand. What language to use, which article to mention and what facts to be known; all this was in place. Also, we had a noted lawyer with us on the sets who corrected us if we went wrong or said anything inappropriate.
Q. How special was this role for you?
Every role that I play is special to me and I cannot say which role has been my favourite. However, whatever role I play, has all my heart into it. If you appreciate my role, I will thank you with all my heart and if any criticism, I will take it into my stride and work towards delivering my best in future.
Q. People coming from North East are subjected to criticism. What is your take on this?
