DOING THINGS DIFFERENTLY
Dignity Dialogue|May 2020
Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar is an ambassador and evangelist for innovation and research and development across the world. He recently published a co-authored book that emphasises how every problem must be met with a practical solution. Interestingly, now in his late seventies, he continues to be the most influential role model for the youth.
DOING THINGS DIFFERENTLY

He is a man driven by ideas, and scientific thought and innovation are what he firmly believes in. Not for him the lofty but vague approaches to development. Rather, Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar would prefer to find a logical solution to any problem. And that is what has made him an iconic figure in the areas of research and development as well as industry. It’s this grounded, practical approach that endears him to one and all, serving as an inspiration to young scientists across the globe while being a beacon to those who are searching for guidance. All this was more than evident when Dr. Mashelkar released his most recent book titled ‘Leap-Frogging to Pole-Vaulting: Creating the Magic of Radical yet Sustainable Transformation’. The book has been co-authored by Ravi Pandit, Chairman, and CEO, KPIT Technologies.

The Book

Published by Penguin India, Dr. Mashelkar’s book shows how India has moved from running to leap-frogging to pole-vaulting in recent years. The unique ‘3-4-7 framework’ demonstrates how a paralysing mass of problems can be brought down to a formidable formula, thus making every problem solvable, no matter how big and complex. The book is dotted with inspiring case-studies that can instill confidence in people from across the world to put this framework into practice for assured success. Dr. Mashelkar and Pandit ably show in this must-read book that even as the interplay of global issues constantly raises the bar for innovation today, there has never been a better time to use our learnings to pole-vault over those bars into a new future!
