Raveeena Tandon has created her own green oasis in concrete Mumbai, finds Suman Sharma.
The song Tumse jo dekhte hi pyar hua, in Raveena Tandon’s debut film Patthar Ke Phool listed the famous roads in Mumbai – ‘Kabhi Linking Road, kabhi Warden Road, kabhi Caddel Road, kabhi Peddar Road…’ Raveena says her ‘house journey’ has also been like that with her addresses changing. Initially, she moved from her dad’s (filmmaker Ravi Tandon) bungalow in Juhu to her own house in Lokhandwala in Andheri. After marrying distributor Anil Thadani, the couple moved to Linking Road in Bandra. Now, they live in their sea facing bungalow, Neelaya in Bandra.
As you enter the bungalow, you see a huge idol of Lord Ganesha. The actress is spiritual and says the temple is her favourite spot in the house. “It’s a space where the family sits together and also performs aarti in the presence of the pandit. The beauty of the temple is that it is visible from every balcony of the bungalow. Also, it’s perfect according to Vastu Shastra,” she explains.
The actress reveals that the architectural scheme of her house doesn’t follow a single theme but is an amalgamation of several influences like Moroccan, European and South Indian styles. The garden area has wooden carved pillars much like the ones you see in Kerala. The porch has a Moroccan touch whereas the bedrooms have a French theme.
