Connecting Through Culture

As Principal of the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society, Vidhya Nair’s recipe for success is commitment and integrity.

Connecting Through Culture

Her interest in culture and heritage combined with her experience in running a business venture makes Vidhya Nair the ideal candidate to head Singapore’s most established fine arts school.

Since May 2016, as Principal of Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society (SIFAS), Nair, has been trying to achieve a balance between modern day expectations and retaining ancient traditions. Her vast experience in running the general sales agency for Jet Airways coupled with her work as Docent Coordinator and Training Head with the Friends of the Museums for the Indian Heritage Centre has equipped her to achieve this.

While SIFAS offers a wide variety of courses in music and dance, Nair is keen on expanding the visual arts section, by introducing traditional forms to students here. Curating courses, getting the syllabus in order, procuring study materials and getting institutional accreditation are some of the things that she has been working on.
