Industrial luxe and artistry meet Scandi cool and local materials in Birgitte and Peter’s amazing contemporary home in Bali
I spend six months of the year here in Bali and the rest of my time in Copenhagen. The common ground I’ve found between the two places is the DNA of my style,’ says Birgitte Raben Olrik, founder of Danish fashion and homeware brand Rabens Saloner. Check out her clothing and you’ll find exquisite embroidery, delicate prints and unusual colour combos – plaster pink and brick, gold with terracotta. It’s there in her home too, where a wall painted to look like golden lichen forms the backdrop to a rose-tinted velvet chair.
‘I discovered Bali when I lived in Australia many years ago,’ explains Birgitte. ‘There’s a heritage of craftsmanship and people have amazing skills working with their hands. I work with artisans to create my designs and that influences the decor of my home. Look at the walls and you’ll find clues to my latest collection!’
