Aaron Pereira recounts his first supercar experience with the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, along the scenic routes of Berchtesgaden in Germany

The town of Berchtesgaden in Germany, is an elevated slice of heaven on earth. The picturesque place endows you with ‘postcard views’ and fresh, clean air, plus is peaceful and relatively quiet. The stillness, however, was slightly disturbed, with the loud purrs and revving of a powerful beast—as the quaint town was the location chosen for a media test-drive of the latest Aston Martin DBS Superleggera.

This would mark my first experience handling not just an Aston Martin, but also a supercar. Upon arrival I got to view three different models of Aston Martin cars. Next to each other sat the Vantage and DBS 11, and taking pride of place was the star of the show, in a stunning red colour, amid a gorgeous backdrop. I was informed that the DBS Superleggera replaces the Vanquish S and is a cross between the gentlemanly DBS 11 and the ‘hunter-type’ Vantage—borrowing design cues as well as combining generous proportions of aggression and athleticism to express itself with an explicit design language that is also functional.
