Years ago, while flipping through an issue of Mississippi Magazine, Ellen Thoms stopped in her tracks. She was enamored by the image of a stunning outdoor family room and kitchen space filled with personality and detail. Ellen and husband Richard dreamed of one day creating a retreat for their family to gather near their home in Newton. When the time came to build on their family land on the edge of Loblolly Pines Timberland, Ellen immediately added the ripped-out magazine page into the design plans.
