So, tell me, what is it like being a mother? How has the arrival of your son altered your life?
Dimple: Damon is a miracle baby. We never imagined that we’d grow our family because we were told that we wouldn’t be able to conceive. So, when Damon finally arrived, I was overwhelmed. Motherhood was definitely a new experience. My husband, Savio, and I, both lost our mothers almost 10 years ago, so I didn’t really have a mother’s guidance when it was my turn to be a mom. So I was nervous but definitely excited. I felt a surge of emotions. Motherhood is intense, emotional, raw, beautiful and unpredictable. It turns your world upside down and makes you see things with a whole new perspective.
Honestly, Damon’s arrival has been a tremendous blessing. He’s filled our lives with too many surprises to count. In fact, it’s brought us closer together as a family. However, being a parent is a full-time job so either Savio or I have to be available to him. It can get difficult at times, but we do give each other some ‘me time’ because it is important to de-stress. It’s a good thing that the both of us are on the same page when it comes to raising Damon. We love the fact that we get plenty of quality family time. At home, we have a simple mantra that we follow daily: we spend a minimum of 15 minutes dancing together. It helps us relax and bond as a family.
Considering you were told you can’t conceive, when did you realise you were pregnant?
