It can be hard to know how to amuse your baby once they begin to become more aware of the world around them For months it was just about feeding, changing and cuddling. Now your little baby is one and the fun really begins!
It is common to be completely at a loss as to what activities are suitable for your small toddler. The great thing is that most activities can be adapted to this stage so there is no need to hold off taking out that box of crayons or play-dough. Just be aware, at this age, everything is going to head straight for the mouth. Be vigilant but don’t stress too much - most children have ‘tasted’ play- dough and lived to tell the tale!
First of all, giving your child the space and time to just go off and explore their environment by themselves is a great way of boosting their confidence and instilling a sense of independence. Obviously, take note of any potential hazards around the home but do let your child have the freedom to discover their surroundings. Not only does it allow for confidence building but it is a great way for a child to learn the joy of playing by themselves and their imagination thrives through this type of play.
