Sony’s PlayStation VR is coming, and we tried it out.

The long-awaited PlayStation VR gets a date, and that day is 13th October. After much speculation about the price, Sony has decided the magic number to be S$599, which is competitive, to say the least. Given its distribution outreach, it’s safe to say that Sony has more than a fighting chance against its more publicised rivals.

While we tried the prototype set a year ago at GameStart 2015, there’s been a few changes with the production version we used in this Test. Bear in mind that as the official launch date is in October we can’t discuss much regarding the games we played on the VR. Rather, this is a review on the VR headset and setup.

The first thing we learnt is that the PlayStation VR system does need some requirements — roughly 3.6 metres by 1.9 metres of clear floor space, and height of the camera needs to be set differently if the game requires you to stand up or sit down. This isn’t surprising as the system uses the PlayStation Move controllers and PlayStation Eye camera system.
