Map It Out

3-D Flowers

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

• Scissors

• Assorted maps

● Pinking shears (or edger scissors with scalloped blades)

• Adhesive foam dots

• 9-inch square teal card stock

• 9-inch square shadow box

1 Using the scissors, cut 21/2-inch squares from the maps. (Thin atlas paper will work best for this, but you can print maps if you don't have one.) You'll need two or three squares to make each flower.

2 Fold each square in half twice, then fold it once diagonally to create a triangle. Leave the folded edge intact and, using pinking shears or scissors, cut scallops or other petal-like designs from the other two edges, as you would to make a snowflake. Unfold the paper (it should look like a flower) and repeat with the rest of the squares, experimenting with different shapes.

3 Cut 12-inch circles from the maps with scissors, or use a paper punch.

4 Attach two or more flower layers together with adhesive foam dots; use another foam dot to attach a map circle to the center of each flower.

5 Attach the flowers in a 3-by-3 grid to the card stock with the foam dots and place in the shadow box.
