As an artist, she dreams when she creates, but through the eponymous Rouble Nagi Art Foundation, she wants to make a difference in any way she can. Say hi to Rouble Nagi…
Whether it is her murals, installations or paintings at exhibitions or public places, Rouble Nagi’s works certainly add colour and positivity to their surroundings. The designs are a part of the artist’s personality. She considers her studio as more of a laboratory than a manufacturing unit. For her, a sculpture occupies real space as we do. You can feel it, touch it. It seems as if she often relates to it as another person. Here’s an honest tête à tête with the artist.
What is art, according to you?
I think art is a celebration of human achievements—a proclamation that we managed to go beyond fulfilling just our basic primal needs. It is, to us, a luxury that is a reward for the many strides that humanity has made. Art has given me my identity. Every human being interprets art in his own way, adding his own unique flavour to his interpretation. There are no contenders to art when it comes to its ability to make us realise our uniqueness while still retaining our identity with a universal whole. Art is what makes this world what it is. Art is the reason for colour, life and happiness.
Describe yourself as an artist, your journey so far, and how you chose mural artistry as your career option.
I’ve always wanted to be an artist from the time I remember. In school, I could spend an entire day with a box of crayon and a drawing book. Art that I create for myself makes me happy and gives me satisfaction.
The journey so far has been great. Everyday has been a new challenge. I keep myself busy in my studio every day and try to create something new. The studio is more like a laboratory to me where I experiment with different techniques and mediums.
Being an artist, what sort of materials do you experiment with and how?
