Performance that puts flagships to shame.
Ever since OnePlus announced the new flagship less than a year after the 3T was launched, enthusiasts have been waiting for the device. When finally some leaked images showed up on rumour sites, it had an explosive effect with comparisons of the dual camera to that of the iPhone 7 Plus. The OnePlus 3T is still a formidable device for performance enthusiasts and we have been eager to find out what this new device packs inside.
Design and Build Quality
Sturdy build quality has always been the signature of OnePlus, and the 5 is no different. Crafted from anodised aluminum, it surely looks like an iPhone 7 Plus, albeit smaller and thinner, with an oval fingerprint sensor in place of the round one in the iPhone. Even the antenna lines, dual camera unit, dual tone flash and surface finish looks alike. However, the OnePlus 5 misses the smooth glass bezel interface. The similarities do not end there. The OnePlus 5 sports a notification slider at exactly the same spot as the iPhone’s Silent Mode slider. For all its visible similarities with the iPhone 7 Plus, OnePlus, thankfully, could find place for a 3.5mm headphone jack at the base.
Key Features
The OnePlus 5 boasts some incredible hardware and is available in two variants — one with 6GB RAM/64GB storage and another with 8GB RAM/128GB storage. RAM modules are of the Low-Power DDR4X type. Storage cannot be expanded. The device runs on Oxygen OS, based on Android 7.1 (Nougat). The phone is powered by the latest and most powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with 8 Kryo 280 CPU cores clocked at a peak of 2.45GHz. It is supported by an Adreno 540 GPU.
