A Home Away

WHEN MILAN-BASED fashion behemoth Dsquared2 inaugurated its global headquarters Ceresio 7, in 2013, it was also announced that a guesthouse, was scheduled to open its doors in the same building later that year. Word of the said guesthouse has gained currency around the fashion circuit since, but without any official confirmations in the last five years. This year, the brand opens the doors of its guesthouse, officiating it as an extension in the development of its Ceresio 7 lifestyle project.

It all began eight years ago, when Dsquared2’s founders and creative directors, Dean and Dan Caten set their sight on a nondescript 1930s, brick building as home to their global headquarters. Once the offices of Italy’s largest electric company, the building’s sprawling interior inspired greater potential.

The building’s rooftop, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of the city skyline, was the starting point of the brothers lifestyle initiatives. In 2013, the Ceresio 7 pools and restaurant were unveiled. Perched atop the terrace, its two pools and outdoor lounging and dining set the backdrop for an immaculate summer soirée. Inside, the restaurant’s interior inspirations took its notes from the eclecticism of the 1930s: its walls were lined with clusters of unorthodox art, retro Art Deco lamps and furniture, and an unlikely mix of plush teal velvet, dark leather sofa and wood. The visual feast, served alongside a delectable menu of mainly Italian fare by former Bulgari Hotel chef Elio Sironi, fast rose in status as one of the most sought out watering holes in the city.
