4K HDR under £1,000

Affordable TVs that don’t stint on quality

BEST FOR SCREEN SIZE

HISENSE H65AE6100UK

In terms of picture per pound, Hisense has this category sewn up. This 65-inch model gives you a big, bright picture, and costs less than a mid-range phone. There’s a 4K panel, of course, and it presents Ultra HD pictures with great levels of detail – you won’t just get a big screen here, you’ll also make the most of it. HDR is supported in the standard HDR10 and HLG forms – this is the core of what you need for now and the future of HDR broadcasts. The picture quality is pretty damn impressive considering the price: you’ll get rich colours, solid contrast and stable image processing. It’s obviously not going to be groundbreaking compared to expensive tellies, but there’s little to complain about here. It has built-in smart TV functions too, including Freeview Play, as well as support for Amazon and Netflix streaming, both of which support 4K and HDR for their full effect. £529, hisense.com
