1 Write it Down

If you’ve been calling around for quotes from various movers, when one returns your call, you may have forgotten who it is! To keep track, jot down a list of companies you contact and the dates.

Likewise, create a list of questions you want to ask before you talk to someone. “Many times during a survey, people struggle to recall what they need to ask,” says Roger Kweh, managing director of Rodex Movers (see more from Roger, below). Things to ask about: transportation, packing and unloading charges; transit insurance and applicable taxes.
