With coronavirus continuing to evade an effective vaccine or treatment, all countries are exploring every avenue available. India is looking at its own ancient medical system of Ayurveda, and one person helping to decode immunity boosting supplements is Bhasker Assoldekar.
Born in a joint family in Assolda, Quepem, Bhasker Assoldekar graduated from Chowgule College, Margao before completing his MSc (Tech) as a national merit scholar at the Institute of Chemical Technology with a second rank at Bombay University.
Subsequently, he got selected to the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad to complete his MBA programme.
After working in the industry at various levels, he took over a large multinational company, manufacturing and marketing agrochemicals and pesticides, as its CEO in 1991. He travelled extensively to the Gulf , Europe, the US and Latin America to improve its market share internationally. He has been the founder chairman and managing director of Ayurvedic medicine manufacturer Vibha Natural Products Ltd since its inception in 1996. He is responsible for the implementation of various policies, including marketing strategy to position the company firmly markets across the world, including Oman, Saudi Arabia, Holland, etc.
He has delivered lectures on various aspects of Ayurveda in several countries and also at WHO Geneva. In an exclusive chat with VIVA GOA, Mumbai-based Assoldekar sheds lights on how Ayurveda can help fight the novel coronavirus.
