There are thousands of beauty blogs, vlogs, websites, influencers and online stores to be found, all brimming with tips and tricks to enhance your beauty routine. It can be an intimidating and confusing space – some are aimed solely at selling you their products, some are genuinely helpful, and some are just… well, weird! So avoid the confusion and sometimes downright dangerous advice out there (for instance, do not try to achieve a fuller pout by inflaming your lips with painful chilli powder!), and try out some of the handy info we came across.
Helpful hair hacks
Intensify dark colour by mixing ground coffee into your conditioner and applying it to your hair like a mask. Leave it in as long as you like – the longer you let it sit and soak in, the darker and richer your brunette colour will be. Bestoftips.com
Get beach-perfect waves without a curling iron by braiding small sections of wet or damp hair and blow-drying. For even stronger waves, run your straightener over the braids. Let them set while you do your make-up and get ready in the morning, then remove the braids for stunning beachy waves. Facebook @kouturekiss
Boost volume by using beer as a hair mask. The yeast in the beer works to plump individual strands and thicken hair. Leave half a cup of beer to sit for a few hours until de-carbonated, then mix it with half a cup of water and 1T shampoo. Use as a shampoo and leave in your hair for at least five minutes. It’s best to use non-alcoholic beer. Tohairwithlove.com
Skin secrets
Open up pores for deep cleansing by placing a clean towel over a clothing steamer, then holding it close to your face. You can also try a mini steam treatment by brewing a pot of antioxidant-rich green tea, pouring it into a large bowl, and holding your face over the bowl for a few minutes. Harpersbazaar.com.au
