What is your earliest memory of acting?
When I was 14 I took up ballet, but my teacher quickly saw I had more of a flair for acting than dancing. He urged me to try out for a production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and playing one of the fairies was my first theatrical spark.
Did you have a plan B for your career?
I studied a bachelor of arts, planning to follow it with a teaching diploma, but my then boyfriend persuaded me to audition for drama school. After graduating, I landed a part in a cabaret musical called Celebration. I didn’t give teaching a thought after that – I’d found my passion.
When are you happiest?
Sitting around a campfire with good company, good food, and great wine – it feeds my soul. I love being under a starry sky. And there’s more of that to come. I’m planning another AfrikaBurn trip with friends next year – I’ve been five times, and it’s an eye-opening adventure!
