Hacker Model Edge 540 V3 Toxic EPP Foam ARF

Hacker Model produces several high-quality foam aircraft,

including this Edge 540 V3 Toxic ARF. This EPP flat foam model really delivers in both quality and performance. Flat foamies have been around for years, but even the veteran indoor pilot is sure to enjoy this model.

The Edge 540 V3 Toxic ARF is constructed of EPP foam that is heavily reinforced with carbon-fiber rod. The nice thing about the use of EPP is that you can use standard CA and don’t have to worry about “foam-safe” glues that you would need for Depron.

The hardware package is extensive and includes carbon of many lengths and shapes; control horns; quick connects; long servo arms; carbon-fiber rod landing gear, with skids that act as wheels; and a G-10 motor mount.

This plane is semi-fragile and features some more-advanced methods to create a rigid airframe. Despite this, I would say that most intermediate builders could tackle this project and produce a model they could be proud of. Flight characteristics are phenomenal, but the plane’s aerobatic nature will require an intermediate pilot. preapplied to the EPP foam. Because all mark­ings are already painted on, there is no need for decals of any sort. Once again, this saves the builder quite a bit of time at the bench.

All hardware appears to be metric in thread. There are only a handful of screws used, and all are used for the control system. The micro quick connectors used for the push rods are of high quality and did a great job.
