Get Even More Jacked With Creatine-Induced PAP

The enhancement of strength and power from PAP can be triggered by performing an initial lift with very heavy weight, and then resting several minutes and performing the same lift, usually with lighter weight. For instance, let's say on a typical day you can bench press 275 pounds for six repetitions. Well, if you warm up correctly and then hit your one-rep maximum (1RM) of 325, followed by a short rest period to diminish fatigue, if all goes well and PAP is effectively stimulated, you will be able to bench press 275 for at least one more repetition than your normal six-repetition limit. PAP can also arise when performing complex sets that involve the use of heavy resistance training, again with ample rest, followed this time by an explosive movement using the same muscle groups targeted by the resistance work. PAP induced while performing complex training typically enhances performance during the explosive movement, resulting in greater muscular power.

PAP Enhances Neuromuscular Function

The PAP-enhanced increase in muscular contraction force occurs because the previous activation of the muscle from the heavy lift stimulates more interactions between the two muscle proteins actin and myosin that directly generate muscular contraction. As a result of more interaction between these two muscle contractile proteins, greater levels of muscular contraction occurs, enhancing strength and power production.² PAP also boosts strength and power by stimulating greater activation of the nervous system, which produces additional muscle fiber excitation and subsequent increased strength and force, generating capacity of the involved muscle groups.³ PAP not only improves strength and power instantly, but this form of training can also produce considerable long-term gains in size, strength and power due to the superior training stimulus associated with enhanced amounts of muscular contraction.

It seems like a decade has passed since the pandemic began in 2020. That was a chaotic year for all of us. MD sent me to Atlanta to cover the Chicago Pro, because restrictions in Illinois made it impossible to hold Tim Gardner's annual extravaganza there. The athletes still showed up in force to compete, and the Classic Physique division alone featured 30 men. When they came out to be adjudicated, one man stood out in a flash as the one to beat. I had never heard of Bryan Jones until that point aside from a vague recollection that he'd won the USA a couple of years before. With his braided and colored hair piled on top of his head in a gathered bun with the ends appearing to be some type of bizarre plant, I dubbed him \"The Kai Greene of Classic.\" That didn't stick, thankfully, because Bryan \"Lord\" Jones is a unique athlete in his own right. I knew I was looking at a man who was going to make waves in that division. A few months later he did just that, placing fifth in his first Olympia appearance. But we only saw him twice more after that, at the Arnold Classic and once again at the Olympia at the end of 2021. Since then, Jones has been working hard to build the additional size needed to successfully transition to the Open category. I spoke with him about his brief but notable time in Classic, and how he plans to make a big splash in Open.
