Entries: Now. Live Finals: The UK Guitar Show, London Olympia 29 and 30 September
We enjoy and respect the legacies of our guitar icons, holding them up as benchmarks of expression and trailblazing technique. But for guitar playing to evolve and thrive we need to find and champion new heroes too. And with the help of a panel of all-star judges, Guitarist, Total Guitar, Guitar Techniques magazines and MusicRadar.com are beginning the search now.
From the very beginning, our original Guitarist Of The Year competition was founded on a reputation for successfully shining a light on talent that would go on to find acclaim on the world’s stages. Dave Kilminster wowed our judges in 1991 with his dazzling instrumental Sundance. At the time he was only a part-time working musician but a teaching job followed at the Guitar Institute and his rich musicianship would eventually lead to touring guitarist spots for progressive luminaries Keith Emerson, Roger Waters and Steven Wilson.
