THE Northern Western Trust has agreed to hold a second public meeting to discuss the future of medical services provision across Mid Ulster.
Following the publication of its proposals to meet its share of the overall Health and Social Care System’s 2017/18 savings target of £70 million, the Northern Trust is holding a series of public meetings.
The initial public meeting for the Mid Ulster locality was initially planned for next Monday (September 25) at Glenavon Hotel, Cookstown from 10am to 12 noon.
However a second meeting is now planned to take place on September 25 in the Bridewell, Magherafelt at 7pm, after it was pointed out by Sinn Féin’s Francie Molly that the early time did not encourage public engagement.
The loss of around 30 staff from the Mid Ulster Hospital site in Magherafelt is just one of the many proposals put forward by The Northern Health and Social Care Trust to reduce £13m from its budget.
