Hurst and Calderwood exit Lg2 outfits

The Iron And U's In Boss Search

A ROW over transfer policy is thought to be the reason behind Paul Hurst’s surprise departure from Scunthorpe.

Yet it remains unclear whether the former Ipswich and Shrewsbury manager was sacked or resigned.

Hurst’s exit on Thursday left many supporters perplexed, especially in the context of improved recent performances. Though winless in five and 16th in League Two, the perception was of a squad finally getting to grips with their manager’s demands.

Iron owner Peter Swann had also stated that Hurst’s appointment last summer was part of a long-term vision - something he emphasised during a dismal start to the current campaign.

Discussions

Speaking on Friday, however, Swann suggested that Hurst had failed to support his efforts to reduce Scunthorpe’s wage bill following relegation to League Two last season.
