A spokeswoman for the Prime Minister, 55, and girlfriend Carrie, 32, said mother and baby boy were “doing very well”.
Mr. Johnson was present throughout the birth early yesterday but was back at Downing Street by lunchtime, to oversee the Government’s effort to tackle the coronavirus epidemic.
The spokeswoman said: “The Prime Minister and Ms. Symonds are thrilled to announce the birth of a healthy baby boy at a London hospital earlier this morning. Both mother and baby are doing very well.
“The PM and Ms. Symonds would like to thank the fantastic NHS maternity team.”
His press secretary said: “The Prime Minister is delighted by the birth of his son.”

He added: “I expect the Prime Minister to take a short period of paternity leave later in the year.”
