PM: Brexit Will Boost Our Common Wealth

Brexit freedoms will make it easier for Britain to boost its economy through the Commonwealth, Boris Johnson has argued.

The Prime Minister says being a member of the 54-nation bloc is of “immense practical value for trade”.

Members have 21 per cent lower costs when trading with each other. And investment levels are 27 per cent higher than between nonmember nations.

And he notes that the collective GDP (gross domestic product) of Commonwealth nations is forecast to increase by 50 per cent to £15.9trillion in the next five years.

This week Mr Johnson is travelling to Rwanda for the Commonwealth Heads Of Government Meeting (CHOGM). Prince Charles and Camilla will also be there.
