Stepdad Of Boy Found Dead In River Charged With Murder

THE stepfather of tragic Logan Mwangi appeared in court yesterday charged with murdering the five-year-old – who died from a head injury and torn liver.

John Cole, 39, is accused of killing “kind, handsome, polite and clever” Logan, also known as Logan Williamson, whose body was pulled from the River Ogmore last Saturday.

Care worker and dad-of two Cole was arrested shortly after police responded to reports of a missing child and found the youngster in the water near his home in Bridgend, South Wales.

Cardiff Crown court heard Logan had suffered “three main injuries” resulting from “impacted pressure either by an object, a foot or a fist”.

JPs were told his “liver was torn, the back of his head and scalp had become parted and he had a broken collar bone”

Cole has also been charged with perverting the course of justice, along with Logan’s mother, Angharad Williamson, 30, and a boy of 13 who cannot be named.
