THE head of the armed forces has hit back at claims Britain is at risk of war with Russia while our military is depleted.
Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, Chief of the Defence Staff, insisted Britain was safe because of its membership of NATO.
And he said: "We are not at the cusp of war with Russia.
"We are not about to be invaded.
"No one in the MoD is talking about conscription for everyday civilians.
"Britain is safe.
