A FIRE attack maniac torched Celtic chief Peter Lawwell’s home while his daughter and grandchild were inside – forcing them to flee for their lives.

It was the fifth arson incident on upmarket Glasgow homes in three days.

A THUG carried out a fire-raising attack on Celtic chief Peter Lawwell’s home – while his daughter and four-month-old granddaughter were inside.

Neighbours claimed it was a “miracle” no one died after the attacker poured flammable liquid on cars outside his property and set them ablaze.

The flames quickly spread to the house where Lawwell and his family were sleeping, forcing them to flee early yesterday.

Celtic FC said Lawwell, 61, and his family were “extremely shaken and shocked” by the blaze, which destroyed part of the house and three cars.

Police Scotland are appealing for witnesses to the attack in the millionaires’ village of Thorntonhall, south of Glasgow.

They said nobody was injured in the fire and no motive is known for the attack.

One witness told the Record: “I could see flames shooting into the sky and the roof was well ablaze and I was thinking there would be fatalities. Given the time of night it happened and the extent of the damage, it’s a miracle no one died.”

A neighbour and friend of the family told the Record: “I knew it was Peter’s house and that it was going on for about an hour.
