LIZ Truss remained missing in action yesterday after leaving the UK economy on the brink of disaster.
Rivals demanded the PM face the music after the Bank of England put up £65billion to halt the chaos.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon asked: "Where even is the PM?"
LOSING TRUSS...
She goes missing as millions face bills and mortgage hell. Demand to recall MPs as Bank forced into £65bn bailout.
PRIME Minister Liz Truss was nowhere to be seen as the Bank of England faced the prospect of mass insolvencies in pension funds by yesterday afternoon.
The £65billion bailout came amid fears the financial system was facing imminent collapse or, as the Bank put it, there was a "material risk to UK financial stability".
MPs demanded Liz Truss come out of hiding and deal with the mess triggered by her Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng's mini-Budget.
It sent the pound tumbling, threw the mortgage market into chaos and led to fears of interest rate hikes and a house price crash. Consumer champion Martin Lewis warned it would push people into "can't pay my mortgage" territory.
Yet while opposition parties demanded the recall of Parliament, Liz Truss was nowhere to be seen.
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer urged the government to cancel the party conference recess - due to last until October 11 and abandon the budget "before any more damage is done".
Lib Dem leader Ed Davey said: "Truss and Kwarteng must spell out how they will repair the damage from their shambolic budget.
Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves said: "This is a crisis made in No10 and is the direct result of the Tory government's reckless actions, which include tax cuts for the richest 1 per cent."
