A WOMAN who “married” herself is still happily wed 11 years on.
Karen Reed always dreamed of being a bride but took matters into her own hands when she was still single at 40.
She spent around £800 on the solo wedding – splashing out on a dress, limo and a Champagne brunch for 16 guests.
Karen said of coming up with the idea: “I was nearing 40 and had been ready to settle down for a while.
“I thought, ‘Why not marry the person I love most in the world?’
“Not in a big-headed way, but I have learned to love and put myself first.
“It felt like the ultimate act of female empowerment.”
Her dad Brian, 80, walked her down the aisle and she read vows out to herself.
