Ireland must lead the fight against ocean pollution, an MEP believes.
Deirdre Clune stressed the need for a collective approach to keeping our waters clean and safe.
She said: “Marine litter is having a very negative impact on our seas.
“Reducing the amount of marine litter in our oceans and on our beaches is vital to protect marine life and also to ensure that fish, and as a result the food chain, are not further contaminated by items such as plastics.”
