Since the Centre ended Jammu & Kashmir’s special status by abrogating Article 370 of the Indian Constitution in August, there had been frequent infiltration attempts by terrorists from across the border to disturb peace and harmony in the state.
It happened again around 11 pm on Saturday when the Pakistani Army carried out an attack, firing at an Indian post in Kupwara’s Turn to Page 4 Tangdhar sector to push terrorists in.
But before they could attempt their planned infiltration, the Indian Army had decided to use coordinates and target terror camps with artillery guns in areas like Jura, Nowsheri and Asmukam in PoK across the LoC.
Pakistani Army posts and gun positions giving protection to terror launch pads were also quickly identified and hit by the Indian Army.
The heavy exchange of fire continued till around 10 am. About 6-10 Pakistani soldiers and 15-20 terrorists were killed, while three terror camps destroyed in the action.
Sources said there was a heavy damage to Pakistan military installations and terror infrastructure.
On the Indian side, two soldiers and one civilian were killed in Ghundhishat Village of Tangdhar in Paksitani firing.
