The shares were sold between July 21 and 23 and have brought down Puri's holding in HDFC to a mere 0.01 per cent from 0.14 per cent earlier.
The sale comes just months ahead of Puri's retirement from HDFC in October after a 25-year stint during which he built the bank into the largest private second lender and the second-largest overall starting from scratch.
