VAR robbed Jordan Henderson of a dramatic derby winner as 10-man Everton held on to keep their unbeaten record.
The Liverpool skipper thought he had secured victory in stoppage-time when his shot spun over the line following a fine save from Jordan Pickford.
But the video ref ruled it out for the most marginal of offsides against Sadio Mane in the build-up.
The decision baffled Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp who said: “Coming into the dressing room people are standing around with a laptop and I say ‘What’s wrong?’ They tell me, ‘We have watched it back and we don’t understand why it (Henderson’s goal) is offside.’
“I am a real supporter of VAR but in the picture, I saw there is no offside. Since then I have had 10 interviews and everyone tells me it was not offside so that doesn’t lift my mood.”
