So Jamie Langfield must have been cursing his luck when Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood bumped into him in Magaluf.
The big goalie goes by the unfortunate nickname of Clangers and he certainly dropped one by holding his 2007 stag do on the island where his gaffer has a holiday home.
Calderwood had just drawn up a new three-year deal for Langfield after booting out a bid from Rangers following a campaign that saw Langfield keep a record 12 clean sheets.
But that was ripped up after Langfield lumbered into a boozer owned by one of Calderwood’s pals and collapsed in a drunken stupor.
“My pal phoned up because he couldn’t move Jamie,” recalled Calderwood years later.
“Jimmy Nicholl, Sandy Clark and myself tried to get him home but we just couldn’t lift him.”
