Apple Unveils 'Buy Now, Pay Later' Feature And Redesigned Lock Screen For iPhone Users

It is also redesigning the iPhone's lock screen, in the most substantial visual change the operating system for iPhones has received since the introduction of the iPhone X, and introducing a new version of the MacBook Air built around its M2 chip.

Apple's buy now, pay later offering will compete with companies such as Klarna and ClearPay by letting users take out an interest-free, four-month loan on any payments made using the Apple Pay service. It is also partnering with the e-commerce platform Shopify to allow users to track orders in the Apple Wallet app.

The features will initially be launched in the US with the arrival of iOS 16 in the autumn. There is no confirmation of a wider global rollout of the service.
