MERNIE GILMORE

Losing weight is no easy task, and all the myths out there can make it even harder. From super-restrictive diets to that one thing promising miracles, there’s enough fake news to make your head spin.

Slimming World’s approach is based on more than 50 years’ experience of helping people to lose weight, backed up by the latest scientific research. It’s in line with government healthy eating guidelines and designed to be easy-to-follow, realistic and achievable for everyone.

While there are lots of weight-loss methods out there that are too good to be true, it really is possible to eat the foods you love and live the life you want when you follow safe, healthy and effective advice from Slimming World.

If you’re wondering how, here Slimming World sort the fact from the fiction when it comes to what you’ll find when you join one of their groups or their online programme.

Myth: I’ll have to go hungry

Busted: For many of us weight loss equals hunger. In reality though, feeling hungry – and feeling miserable as a result – is counter-productive when it comes to achieving weight-loss goals as it’s unsustainable.

Slimming World has more than 350 low energy dense foods (that means they’re low in calories but filling) which can be eaten freely – with no weighing, counting and measuring. The idea is that you’ll never have to go hungry, and you’ll be able to reduce your calorie intake without actually counting them.
