New Delhi: The Delhi government has set a target of planting about 35.4 lakh saplings this financial year, environment minister Gopal Rai announced on Tuesday. The target has been increased by over two lakh compared with the previous year’s target, officials said.
“Plantation is one of the major aspects of Delhi's summer action plan. A joint meeting of officials from 19 departments was held today. We have set a target of 35,38,291 saplings to be planted in the current financial year. Of these, seven lakh saplings will be distributed for free. For the plantation drive, different departments have been given their targets and fixed responsibilities,” Rai said.
