Lack of checks on home isolation, long test queues a growing worry

Hyderabad: People walking into Covid-19 testing centres in the city on Sunday complained of long queues even as those under home isolation rued how they are being neglected by the authorities. Delay in sanitisation and identification/testing of primary contacts was also an issue reported by many.

“We had to wait for more than two hours for a token to get tested at a government centre. After receiving the token, we had to wait another couple of hours for the test. Government should start online slot booking for people who want to undergo Covid-19 test,” said a person who visited a Primary health Centre (PHC) in Kondapur. According to B T Srinivasan, general secretary of United Federation of Residential Welfare Associations (UFERWAS), people have been queuing up since 4 am to get a test, at a centre in Malkajgiri.
