Mumbai: The BMC on Thursday floated new tenders for setting up seven STPs in Mumbai. This is the fourth time the BMC is floating tenders for the project in recent years, which has been marred by allegations of irregularities and cost escalation.
The SC recently rapped the BMC for delaying installation of STPs to prevent discharge of sewage into the sea in complete disregard of orders from the apex court and the National Green Tribunal.
The BMC floated tenders for STP plants in Worli, Malad, Dharavi, Bandra, Ghatkopar, Bhandup and Versova. The BMC has asked bidders to submit a deposit of Rs 20 crore to participate in the bids.
