Seeks ‘Inclusive Dialogue’ To Ensure Peace

As the Afghanistan situation continues to dominate global concerns, the 13th Brics Summit chaired by PM Modi on Thursday underscored the priority of fighting terrorism, including preventing attempts by outfits to use the Afghan territory as a terrorist sanctuary and carry out attacks against other countries.

Expressing concern over the situation in the restive country and condemning the August 26 terror attack outside the Kabul airport, the New Delhi Declaration stressed on the need for “inclusive intra-Afghan dialogue” to ensure peace and stability.

It also discussed the threat from “cross-border movement of terrorists”, terror-financing networks, and havens. The mention of the cross-border movement is important for India in the context of Pakistan-based terror groups and also for Russia which worries about the possibility of conflict resulting in a spread of terrorism to its territory.
