The waterfront will be developed as a green and recreational space that will turn the defunct waterfront into a centre for social, cultural and recreational activities.
Tourism and environment minister Aaditya Thackeray on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the riverfront and state’s first naval museum along Ulhas river.
Several projects are being undertaken in KalyanDombivli under the Centre’s smart city mission with state and Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation help.
The Smart City Kalyan-Dombivli Development Corporation Ltd, carrying out the projects, is developing the waterfront from Durgadi fort to Gandhari bridge in the west.
