Most of us have spent the last few months working out at home, learning new yoga asanas or burning calories by running or cycling outdoors. Now, as gyms and fitness facilities are finally opening their doors again — and many are itching to return to them — there is one question in most gym lovers’ minds: Is it safe? “The second wave of the pandemic and its deadly effects has us all second-guessing our decision of hitting the gym again. Although many want to desperately return to the gym, the risk of virus transmission is keeping them from doing so. There is certainly a lot of anxiety,” says fitness expert Meenakshi Mohanty.
We talk to industry experts to find out what factors one must consider to keep themselves and others safe as they decide to hit the gym again.
MAKE SURE YOU ARE FULLY VACCINATED: There’s also no harm in getting a COVID test done before you return to the gym to keep you and others safe
WEAR A MASK & GLOVES: Also carry your own towels, one to wipe your sweat with, and the other to wipe down machines. Avoid touching your hands or face
AVOID STEAM ROOMS AND SHOWERS: Also, use washrooms carefully
