Lucknow/Chandigarh: She met them in Bahraich on Thursday. Samajwadi Party chief and former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav too met the family members, while Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu and a group of Congress MLAs and Punjab cabinet ministers were stopped by the UP police at the UP-Haryana border. They were allowed to proceed to Lakhimpur Kheri late on Thursday evening.
UP Congress unit spokesperson Anshu Awasthi said Priyanka Gandhi reached Nabinagar on Thursday afternoon and met family members of farmer Gurvinder Singh, 22, who died on Sunday. She shared her phone number with the family and asked them to contact her any time they needed help, Awasthi added.
When Priyanka Gandhi reached Banjaran Tada village in Nanpara area, members of deceased Daljit Singh’s family showed her a video of Daljit taking part in a peaceful demonstration.
