Ease My Pain
B|Issue 09 Winter 2017

Many women have headaches in pregnancy but when do you seek medical help? And how do you diagnose a migraine?

Ease My Pain

We have almost all of us experienced a headache at one time or another and though it can be annoying and sometimes debilitating, it’s not usually serious and can ease off quickly - usually within a few hours.

Headaches can be caused by a number of things; the onset of an illness such as flu or a virus is often accompanied by headaches and a fever. They can also be due to stress or even dehydration.

Many women experience headaches during pregnancy, especially in the first few weeks but they should lessen after the first trimester.

You are advised not to take medicine containing codeine; you can take paracetamol but many women prefer not to take medicines during pregnancy at all. You could try a more natural alternative, such as one containing levomenthal.
