JUST THE TWO OF US

"Cary and I were part of the same social circle but never really interacted with each other. Cary was a VJ and was all the rage back then, almost every woman in South India had a crush on him! On the other hand, I grew up without cable so I didn't know who he was! For many years, he hosted shows that I was modeling for, but even then, we weren't introduced. Fate finally brought us together for a freelance writing gig with a magazine he was a part of. What was supposed to be a 10-minute call went on for an hour. We'd then meet up for editorial meetings, lunches and dinners for a year. Later, he told me he liked me, and me being as oblivious as I was, I friend-zoned him! I was even trying to set him up with a friend of mine. When he finally confessed his feelings for me, my response was 'good to know!' I was still processing it. I asked if he'd want to do something more casual, but he was very clear he wanted a relationship. I told him if it doesn't work out, we better go back to being friends. And nine years later, here we are, living together and with two babies, we've carved our very own happily ever after.

“To us, there’s no way of having children except to plan for them. We’ve been talking about it for a while because we needed to plan ahead financially and understand the lifestyle change and the responsibilities that come with babies. It was important for both of us to be ready and on the same page. Our plan was to try in 2020, but the pandemic but those plans on hold. Once the first lockdown cleared, we tried and it was an immediate success.
