Two to tango!

34-year-old Minal Shah recounts her journey becoming mommy to Kashvee, four and Sohaansh, two and a half.

"My husband Rohan and I married each other in January 2012. It was arranged marriage, but there was plenty of love to go around. We both loved kids so having one or two of our own was a no-brainer. Luckily for us, we got pregnant a year later. It truly was the happiest time in our lives. But during our eight-week scan, the doctors told us that the baby wasn't growing, and we had to terminate the pregnancy. I was gutted. It was the most devastating thing we've had to go through. I tried to think of every possible reason to continue the pregnancy, but none of the reasons were viable. I remember being so depressed, and feeling like was never going to go away.

"Once we were ready, we began trying again. But four years later, and we were still out of luck. Over the course of these four years, I consulted with a number of gynaecologists to find out why I wasn't conceiving. Finally, in 2016, we discovered that my one of the fallopian tubes was blocked and it would be difficult to get pregnant naturally. So, we gave it a thought, and finally decided to go down the IVF route.

"We approached Dr Jatin Shah to begin the procedure, and I conceived in first cycle itself. But as fate would have it, my baby was not growing again, and didn't even have a heartbeat. So I had to terminate, yet again. This time though, I thought I could either go through a downward spiral again, or take the time to pick myself up and try again. I'm so glad I chose the later, and in July 2017, I conceived my first baby, my miracle Kashvee. We were ecstatic beyond words. Everything that we dreamed of, and prayed for, was finally coming to life.
